Like all 12 almost 13 year old7th grade boys, Kyler likes to play pretty much ALL video games, PlayStation, Wii, Gameboy etc. He also hasn’t let his diabetes stop him from being active in sports like swimming and golf. He likes to play the drums and also has an affinity for drawing.
Since Kyler was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2, he’s never really known any different way to live. He knows how important it is to take care of himself and this disease and has chosen to wear an insulin pump to ensure he stays as healthy as possible. He also occasionally wears a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to avoid the highs and low blood sugar levels which could lead to serious health issues like kidney disease and vision loss.
Living with this disease since before he can even remember, Kyler believes that it is important to address Congress about this issue and that kids like him can make a difference by being ambassadors at this year’s Children’s Congress. JDRF is proud to have Kyler represent not only the company but Iowa as well. Good luck and have fun!
